When is the next match up taking place?
Match ups normally take place every 2-3 weeks depending on my workload. If you haven’t received a buddy after 5-6 weeks please get in contact.
What happens once I sign up?
You can sign up anytime but may have to wait for a wellbeing buddy to be available for you to be matched with. Once your buddy has been found you’ll be informed by email/Twitter and you can take it from there.
You will need to make contact with your buddy, swap addresses, agree on when you’ll send your boxes. Once decided put your box together and send.
How much should I spend?
How much you spend on your wellbeing buddy is up to you, discuss with your buddy what your budgets are and agree on the same amount.
What should go in the #Teacher5adayBuddyBox?
The #Teacher5adayBuddyBox can consist of anything from letters of positivity such as ‘open when…’ letters to open throughout the academic year to small gifts like candles, socks etc. to help your buddy look after themselves. Of course a bit of stationary never goes a miss and perhaps something personal just to show you care.
If you wish you can even make your box follow the 5 components of #teacher5aday with something to help your buddy to notice, connect, exercise and learn. Volunteering is covered by sending a buddy box in return.

When should I send my #Teacher5adayBuddyBox?
When you send your #Teacher5adayBuddyBox is up to you. When you sign up you are asked how many you would be willing to send throughout the year; I will try to match you with someone that is willing to send a similar number as you.
Since we all have those times of year which we find more difficult than others, so when you sign up you’ll also be asked which time of the academic year you would appreciate receiving a #Teacher5adayBuddyBox the most; your buddy will be informed of this so they can plan appropriately to help you when you are most likely to need it.
What happens once I receive my #Teacher5adayBuddyBox?
Well first of all I’m sure you would like to thank your wellbeing buddy. You can share your posts on twitter with the hashtag #teacher5adaybuddybox.
This is an ongoing process, so make sure you check up on your wellbeing buddy now and then even if you only signed up to send the one #Teacher5adayBuddyBox. It’s nice to be remembered.
What if I can’t contact my wellbeing buddy?
Firstly how long has it been since you contacted them? Less than 3 weeks? Maybe they are busy, remember we are all teachers or school staff.
If however after 3-4 weeks you’ve not heard from them or you are having trouble contacting your buddy, let me know either through the contact form, by email or through Twitter. You must include your details and you buddies contact details. I will endevour to make contact with them within two weeks of your message, if I fail to do so then I will advise you to sign up again so you’re details are added to the spreadsheet and new buddy can be provided.
Although I try to respond to all messages, if I haven’t responded to you, it’s just that I’m very busy with work or life. Sometimes I will contact them but not get around to contacting you. If after two weeks you’ve not heard from me (usually because I’ve not heard from them), then please feel free to sign up again. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Can I sign up if I live outside of the UK?
Of course you can, recently an additional question has been added to the sign up for people to identify their location, another asks whether participants would be interested in a global buddy. It make take a little longer to find you somebody to match up with but you’re more than welcome to join in if you’re willing to post your box via airmail.
Can I sign up if I don’t use twitter?
The majority of participants have got involved through twitter, this doesn’t mean you have to use twitter to join in however. Please feel free to sign up by email only; please note however that email only participants are matched with other email only participants so you may have a longer wait for a buddy. You can now keep up to date with #teacher5adaybuddybox via Facebook, this may be another way you wish to keep in contact with your buddy once matched.
Remember this is completely voluntary, it is your responsibility to contact your wellbeing buddy and to send out your #Teacher5adayBuddyBox. You must cover all costs involved.
This is completely based upon all participants wanting to sign up and take part out of the kindness of their hearts. I’m afraid I nor anyone involved in #teacher5aday can accept responsibility if you do not receive a #Teacher5adayBuddyBox in exchange. Therefore please only sign up if you intend to send. Thank you.
